Exmatriculation
I am going to exmatriculate: Do I have to return my UNIcard?
You do not have to return your UNIcard when you exmatriculate. Apart from the barcode for the Basel University Library (UB), which remains valid, the functions (e.g. access) are blocked after exmatriculation.
How do I get my remaining credit from the UNIcard back?
The regulations for the use of the UNIcard stipulate that students will be refunded any remaining credit from CHF 25 after exmatriculation.
Students and doctoral students can enter their IBAN in the online services (services.unibas.ch) up to 6 months after the end of the last semester validity. After that, the remaining balance will be transferred to the IBAN on file after exmatriculation. Please note that the residential address at the bank and at the university must be identical, otherwise the bank will reject the transfer.
The account will be deactivated approximately one year after exmatriculation (31.1.xx or 31.8.xx). The repayment of the credit will only take place from this point in time.
In the case of persons who continue to perform a function at the University (e.g. employment or paragraph 3), no repayment is made if the transfer is seamless.
Unclaimed remaining credit balances and those below 25 CHF, fall to the scholarship fund of the University of Basel after the deadline.
TIP:
If your credit balance, before withdrawal or exmatriculation, is less than 25 CHF and you do not want it to be transferred to the scholarship fund, you have two options.
- You can transfer remaining credit to another person via Polyright Cashless.
- You top up the credit balance so that the account balance is CHF 25 or more.
